There is an old saying, “Everyone knows there are four seasons in a year, winter spring, summer, and football.”
Every fall, with the beginning of the Navy Football season, Annapolis is abuzz. There is an energetic spirit that permeates the city. For every home game, Maryland’s historic state capital swells to capacity. Folks arrive from all over the globe to flock to the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and watch the Midshipmen in action. Navy Tailgating is some of the best in the country. Whether you are a seasoned tailgater or new to the experience, we’ve got the 411 on Navy Football Tailgating.
PERIMETER TAILGATING
Perimeter Tailgating is a proud tradition that the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) offers its fans. For every Navy football game, parking areas along the outer edges of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium are specifically held for tailgate groups. To snag one of these coveted spots, you must reserve spaces through the NAAA for the entire season. There are usually around 70 designated areas for groups of 20 or more to include USNA graduates, midshipmen, and civilian fans. These spots can accommodate about a 20×20 tent. Haven’t reserved for this season? On some occasions perimeter spaces may be available to rent on a game-by-game basis. So always check!
NAVY FEST
Navy Fest, is the perfect place to bring a large group of friends, family, co-workers, etc. to enjoy a pre-game, half-time or post-game tailgate party. Organize a group of at least 20 or as large as a thousand to experience the pageantry of Navy Football. No matter the size, your gang is guaranteed a memorable experience from start to finish!
CAPTAIN’S BBQ
Have a small group that you wish to entertain at the big game?
Bring client, family or friends and witness, first hand, all the Navy Football traditions in an intimate setting as you dine on delicious fine cuisine. The Military Bowl
Can’t get enough college football tailgating? Catch your one last chance with the Military Bowl. Presented by Northrup Grumman, on December 28th, this bowl game starts with a morning parade from the docks of Downtown Annapolis to the stadium. This game features the American Athletic Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference champs.
All it takes is a casual stroll around the parking lot on game day to see that fans take Navy Football tailgating seriously. Why not partake in some of the Annapolis Traditions?
